Kristin's Story

I can't exactly pinpoint my inspiration for my cleaner/greener lifestyle. A lot of it started during my lengthy chats with my sister, Ashley. She had made a few changes and was telling me about them and I thought..."why not give it a shot." But my real motivation to this lifestyle change came from reading about how certain chemicals in our beauty products, food, cleaners, etc. can affect your future children without you even realising it. I figure that what I put on/in my body may affect me, but that is my fault...but to have it affect my future children was not acceptable. So here I am 18 weeks pregnant with my first baby and still figuring it out,  but better late than never, right?!

So far, I am enjoying the change. It actually feels great to know that the products I use and the food I eat is much healthier for me and my baby. I enjoy researching and the chats with my wonderful co-bloggers about the newest info. The hardest part was having my husband thinking I had gone nuts! At first my husband just shook his head and said "whatever you want, babe" and then it turned into "don't you think this is a bit much" which then became "I am tired of hearing about it, this is ridiculous" which then caused me to get frustrated and ended up with me in tears and trying to explain why I need him to support me in this. And although, he hasn't completely come around, he now realises that I am doing what is best for our children and he actually appreciates it. He has actually even improved his lifestyle with eating healthier and exercising.

The changes I have implemented:
  • House hold cleaners
  • Body cleansers and some beauty products
  • Composting
  • Shopping locally and organically for food
A Few Clean/Green Products I can't live without:
So a bit about me: I am 26 years old and I work as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at UHNBC. My husband and I have been married for almost 5 years and are expecting our first child in August. My favourite things in the world are my husband, my family, my dogs, my friends, cooking (mostly baking) and just being sociable.

I hope you enjoy our blog and please feel free to give us feedback and to leave comments!!
