I am challenging you to a 7 day cleanse/detox. It cuts out the “Big Bad 5” foods that are hard on our digestive systems, and adds in lots of nutritious, fiber-rich foods that will scrub out all that built up gunk! . - During the Cleanse
- Drink about 2 liters (8 glasses) of filtered room temperature water each day
- Eat lots of high-fibre foods & green leafy veggies (Kale, Spinach, chard, etc.)
- Follow the Detox diet & cut out the “Big Bad 5”
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night
- If possible:
- Eat Organic or cleanse produce of pesticides with a product like Norwex Fresh Wash
- Avoid microwaving your food
- Avoid consuming food & water from plastic containers
- Use natural personal care & cleaning products
- Deepening your Detox: (Additional activities that draw out toxins)
- Have a bath with mineral salts
- Book yourself a massage
- Use a Dry Brush to exfoliate & stimulate circulation
- Exercise (& perspire) on 4-6 days of your detox week
- De-stress by journalling, praying, stretching, deep breathing, positive thinking, etc.

- Tips:
- Please confirm with your doctor that a cleanse is right for you (Detox is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding woman and some people under other conditions)
- Find a friend to detox with & encourage each other
- Read our "Detox PREP" post
- Strip your pantry & fridge of "off-limits" foods that will tempt you!
- Prep lots of appetizing "allowed" foods and have them on hand for snacking
- Pre-make some soups & chilis with "allowed" ingredients for lunches
- To help flush your kidneys, start your morning with the juice of a 1/4 lemon squeezed into a glass of warm water
- Don't rush through meals and take time to chew your food thoroughly
Be prepared that you may experience withdrawals, cravings, mood swings, or even flu like symptoms in the beginning of your cleanse as the toxins are getting released! You may want to avoid having a lot of social commitments during "detox week". When your 7 days is up, it is recommended that you reintroduce the "Big Bad 5" foods back into your diet one at a time and note how your stomach, sinus', and skin feel. If you notice adverse reactions, you might have a sensitivity to that item and should consider limiting your consumption of it permanently.
